Today from 2.30-4pm (UK time) join Ergo & Lottie and a gang of Soundart Allstars for the penultimate in this run of 'Play' shows in Soundart Radio's Listen, Play, Experiment series. In this live broadcast, expect machines, birds, liminal spaces, endless cosmic spaces, birds, tricks and side-arm snookery as we delve into the heady world of SOUND EFFECTS. The Mighty Wurlitzer, mirages and Stan Laurel falling down a flight of stairs may also feature. Throw in some animated notation fun and how to make infinite musical compositions also add to this heady sonic ball-pool. Look out for the horse!

"It is easy to forget that the most important word in the phrase "putting on a play" is "play". In increasingly spurious and difficult times, there doesn't seem to be time enough for anybody to explore ideas which - given the human capacity for creativity - seems an injustice."
The highly regarded and controversial mixed media artists Lottie Depresstival & Dr Ergo Phizmiz, regulars on Soundart's Friday afternoons, invite you to join them in the making of a series of Plays for radio, using the whole range of radiophonic techniques combined with experimental approaches to making radio drama. Taking place in live workshop settings, these sessions will constitute a flurry of ideas and activities, across words, music and noises, to explore the edges of this most versatile, democratic and cost effective storytelling medium - after all, it costs the same in a sonic environment to take the listener to Totnes as it does an aural trip to Jupiter.

"Linguabestia", part of the Listen, Play, Experiment series. What were things like in the days before animals transcended language and became telepathic?
My guinea pigs are telepathic, but they also brandish their rears at one another,  apparently it is a gesture steeped in meaning, it is very disturbing, they look like a snake

"SPOOKY ASPIC AT A DISTANCE", for Radia Network Xmas 2025:
Narrative is in a pretty pickle without the culture of experimental theatricals tossing off their posing pouches and expressing with wild abandon but, today in the studios of Soundart Radio, almost everybody is naked! That’s because devised theatre, in the most magical of spaces – the radiophonic environment – is back! Ghosts! Witchcraft! Savoury jelly! Welcome to the future dramaturgy! May or may not involve contributions from interstellar intelligences.
Produced by Dr Ergo Phizmiz and Lottie Depresstival Bowater with the Soundart Radio MASSIVEat the “PLAY” devised radio workshops, part of listen–play–experiment with thanks to funding from Devon and Torbay Combined Authority, Devon County Council and UK Shared Prosperity Fund “Essential Skills” programme.soundartradio.org.uk/listen-play-experiment/

Thanks to all the wonderful people at Soundart Radio & the Radia Network <3
